Retirement Planning relieves stress and takes monkey off back!
Retirement Planning – The Scariest Thing I’ve Ever Had to Do…..
Earlier this year, my wake up call was on finding out and improving my financial status. Like many of you, I spent my years taking care of career, family, school, our home and then aging parents more than concentrating on retirement planning. I was under the impression that I had lots of time. The aging parents part taught me so much about what I did and did not want to happen in my own life.
Thinking I had done well in saving for my own future and expecting I had many more years to go before it would matter, reality set in. Unlike many, I received no inheritance. I actually had to budget to include taking care of my mother. That also showed me that I needed to address financial issues now while I have my health and not wait until I need something important or need to burden my husband or children.
Not knowing where to turn, I hired what I term as a “Financial Parent”. It took a while to find someone that matched my needs and desires and wouldn’t overpower me with just their single direction.
I wanted someone to help in all areas of my finances, which included short and long-term goals. If your not sure of what areas you need help in try reviewing the free information at the

The program I chose made me sit down and put on paper my husband’s and my whole life. All monies, property, investments, values of autos and purchases had to be accounted for. It was the scariest thing I’ve ever had to do! My whole life was before me on paper to be evaluated and criticized. I thank her everyday for showing me my life as a Pie Chart. The monkey is off my back.
So, Lets talk about some of the areas of concern. I feel the largest amount of money I own is wrapped up in a 401(k). What is this and do I need to keep watch over it and why?
