Remodeling means more to Baby Boomers than a tax break!
When we reach the remodeling stage of our lives it may include everything from changing our homes to cleaning our closets or even creating a new style for ourselves. We come up with a check list to decide what is best for us. Once we finished those first and necessary deeds of wills, retirement plans and investments, (you did, didn't you?) we know our current and future financial plan. That opens doors for us to start living for ourselves
Do we stay in our current home?
Do we upgrade and change colors?
Assess our current home needs?
Do we sell or remodel?
Can you do the work your self or need help?
We really evaluate our personal lives, current physical abilities and flexibility. How long do you want to keep cutting the grass or shoveling the snow or even cleaning the bathroom? Most won't even hire a cleaning service because there is too much "stuff" everywhere.
How can I make my current space more livable to my lifestyle?
How can I organize 30 to 50 years of accumulation?
How is it possible to retain the memories yet let go of posessions?
Take it from me, once you start with one room...they all just keep going and flowing. I actually know what I have! Frequently we use all those items that used to be stuffed in boxes that were put away for I don't even know who or why! I've eliminated all the cracked, stained or mismatched items in our home. We finally realize we deserve to use the "best". Don't wait until everything is perfect, start today! Stop saving everything, use it and if it breaks, replace it. There are so many wonderful wholesale places to purchase from that I no longer have any excuses not to have what I want in my life. Life is for enjoying. Being a Baby Boomer has given me permission to choose a new style for myself and my home.
Remodel something soon!
