Health Issues Are A Reality in Mid Life That You Can No Longer Deny

It doesn’t matter how hard you try to ignore or deny that Health Issues are a reality in a Baby-Boomers life. You are told your recent blood work is showing higher cholesterol, bad LDL and your sugar level is creeping out of control. Your Blood Pressure is borderline and your weight around the middle is going to cause heart related issues and diabetes is in your future.

I just finished getting my children into or out of college and my parents need constant care and now you want me to have time for my own health? I’m not going to tell myself I’m not old enough to actually have these health issues. I may be physically showing these signs but I’m certainly not mentally or emotionally ready to deal with them. I don’t even know what half of this means. What do I do? Where do I go and Who do I believe?

Hopefully some light can be shed on these and many other issues we face as Aging Baby Boomers. This chapter of the website allows me to offer insight, ideas and directions to ways and means of achieving positive health in this stage of your life. With 25 years as a Nutrition Consultant in the areas of foods, diets, vitamins, minerals and herbs, I have approached all of these issues and more for many clients and family members. Let’s utilize this portion to approach as many as we can.

There are a couple of articles in the archives that may interest you. Part One would be on Getting Fit Over Fifty and Part two of a series called Taking Care of Your Health The aging process does not have patience. It doesn't wait for you to be ready, willing or able. If you take to long to notice your health changes, you become a medical statistic. Become pro-active in all areas of your health care. Mix it up. Utilize the doctor for finding problems and markers of the things you need to pay attention to most. If you have no idea what your diagnosis means or what to do next try research on the subject...

If your parents or elders of any sort are still alive and well, get all the medical information you can out of them. Once they are gone, you have no point of reference and you are at the doctor's decretion.

If you do not have a relationship with your doctor that is comfortable maybe it is time to find one that you can be open and share in your health directions and decisions. Ask around for referrals from people you trust and know that have experience in the areas of interest, especially for specialty problems.

I will add to this section as the subjects pertaining to all types of mid life health issues arise and I'm positive that there will be many. Soon!
